Day 3 of 8
Monday, Day four, second day on the water We got up early and as we headed onto the water my navigating was being questioned. Since I wasn’t positive where I was at, I didn’t argue. But I still had an idea which way to go. After our first portage that day (which was discussed as being wrong), I knew we were on the route. I offered for someone else to navigate but everyone declined. At this point in our trip we were in the 2016 burn area. Life was coming back but there weren’t any trees with a flash chopped into them. But what I found were Cairns (which I never heard of). A stack of rocks to mark the way at the portage point. Today’s paddling took us through Jake lake and into Mexican lake. This is where I thought we would be able to make it the first day but I’m glad we didn’t try to push it.
