DAY SEVEN: Saturday, August 31. Cairn, Sark, Keefer, Kahshahpiwi. 10.2 miles, 3 portages.

Slept until 7:00—out of the tent into a beautiful day. While early temperatures were in the upper 40s, it warmed quickly as the sun climbed. Today's route was straight down the Cairn/Sark/Keefer/Kahshahpiwi chain, and started with calm water. By noon the wind had picked up again, and after lunch on a nice island site on Keefer we fought wind the rest of the way along the lake. After portaging into Kahshahpiwi the wind was lighter, but we decided not to shoot for Sarah today and found a nice island site at about 3:00. Had baths, then relaxed the rest of the afternoon. Tia caught up with her journal.
