I had a beautiful sunny day to end the trip on. I had another 14 or so miles to go. I was practically jumping out of the tent to crush those miles and make my bush flight. I tried to soak it all in knowing that the trip was coming to an end, but truth be told, I was ready to talk to someone again. 7 days with 8+ hours of free time (not paddling or not sleeping) was too much free time. The fishing was so good, it was boring. I had some books I was reading but there is only so much I could take of that. The difference here compared to the BWCA is that you can always go to another lake or fish for species that are harder to catch to pass time. Here, the creek goes oneway and I have a set pickup point.

Finding the pickup point was the challenge for the day. I had GPS coordinates but the ones they gave me led me to some thick brush. It took some figuring out and a lot of mosquito bites before I found what I believe the pickup location was.

Finally, the bush plane came after waiting for 3+ hours. Of course the plane came when I decided to cook a supper of mashed potatoes so it was a mad dash to clean everything up. The pilot made a couple of passes looking for a good spot to land and then met me. Truthfully, the bush plane ride was the highlight of the trip. The pilot was transparent with what he was trying to do such as picking the takeoff line, hoping the plane climbs fast enough to get over those trees, etc. It certainly made me want to buy a bush plane and live in Alaska.

Once I got dropped off and made the trek to my truck, I felt amazing. I couldn't believe I was finally done with the 100-mile float. I didn't plan too much, just went off what 907tundra and the Alaska tourism page told me so I didn't really know what it was going to look like. In hindsight, I should've asked for a much farther pickup point so I had more miles to do in a day. Having a partner for this sort of trip would've also been nice. Overall, I'm happy I did and I learned a lot about what the interior of Alaska is like.
