After months of wondering if we would have to wade the length of McAlpine creek, this was the day we would find out about the water level in the creek between McAlpine and Kasakogwog Lakes. What we found was that the water was quite deep, three feet (1m) most places.
Part of the reason that the water was high was that the beavers had done a good job of damming the creek. In the photo below, I have taken out my spare/rough use paddle, but it was actually only needed for a few feet right there at the bottom of the dam.
After navigating the creek without having to wade, we entered Kasakogwog Lake. We quickly found a campsite for the night. At this point, we were ahead of schedule and didn't feel the need to cover long distances. Jupiter put on another show that night.
