Jon and I slept about 10 hours, which was needed. Were up to hordes of skeeters on our tents but they seemed to disperse. Jon had a midnight massacre when he got up to take a leak. Tiny bladder syndrome.

Pretty lakes and landscapes today. Fishing is solid. Catching all four species. Water seems warm. Guessing we are trolling around 7-11 feet, and wouldn't be surprised if lakers are coming up from 20 to hit. Haze in the air and clouds but no rain. Warm and pleasant. Despite the record snow and quick melt it is quite dry in the forest. I understand now why the ban is in effect.

Slaughtered the smallies and walleye coming into Sturgeon from Lonely at the spillage. Only keeping enough to eat, and throwing back anything that looks plump with eggs. Shore lunch of walleye. Black flies (not midges or gnats) are at the site but not bothering us. Dragonflies are on the prowl. Glad to have the east wind. Lots of moose sign but no moose. We did hear a cow bellow. West side of Sturgeon was burned out last year or two it seems.

Jon just whipped out the cribbage and whisky...

Route: Jesse; Elizabeth; Walter (great fishing); Lonely; Sturgeon
