Nice job u two. That canoe was cost effective I am gathering, but crazy heavy. Next time rent a kevlar, you will be amazed. Also, head nets are great for portaging, and in camp, bringing a can of Yard Guard that is sprayed liberally down the toilet before going can make that a lot better adventure, lol.

Nice report. I stayed at that site last Memorial Day. Nice lake to have all to yourself. And Booger was there for us to...very funny.

Yes, nice report. I think the plant you were wondering about was very likely the thimbleberry, which is common on that end of the BW.

Nice train of rocks looks cool. We'll be up there in Aug, and staying on Pine and day tripping to pike, maybe I'll see ya on the dock, have a nice summer. Oh do you know anything about the two little brookie lakes south of Pine?? Thanks.

Good report. An enjoyable read - I like your writing style. You handled the big wave situation well by working through it and recognizing what you are capable of! What is the weight of your canoe? In the naming thread I didn't realize it was a square stern.

Sounds like a great trip! I am glad you guys had fun! Thanks for sharing!

The Machines that you heard were coming from McFarland they were clearing out two new spots for Cabins.:( I have a Cabin on McFarland my family has been here for over fifty years and you are correct about how close they are. I can't stand it I'm 28 and when I was about 6-7 years old there were never as Many Cabins like there is now. My Cabin is the first one after the boat launch on the left. We always were able to sit on the dock and watch the Moose feed just across the lake it use to be so peaceful now if I go up during the weekends all I here is Generators. So i try to get up in the middle of the week.

But if you come back into McFarland stop by the little Cabin on the left and say HI:)

Great trip report:)

Is it just me or is anyone else wondering what the little dead things in the lake are?

Great trip report, thanks for sharing!
rlhedlund 07/26/2009 07:38PM
I'm impressed, carrying that tank of a canoe. Glad the two of you had a great trip. Thanks for sharing.

damn-a square stern! lisa-you need a lighter canoe! as for the "dead things" crayfish-live or molts?

and be careful with those little boogers-they are worse than bears if you ask me. i have had one chew through a food pack. next time use bigger rocks and practice your aim;)
