Wow, glad we didn't end up staying at that site but we went past it last week. Thanks for sharing and I agree, you had plenty of adventures for one trip.

Quite an adventure. I have had several bear encounters while camping and it has been my experience that if the bears get fed, you will continue having problems. Relocating camp in the morning is a good idea. By the way that is a good sized bear in your photo. Up close they are very impressive, all muscle. They are only after food and get very motivated once fed, tornado Joe.

Awesome report!! Crazy bear encounters but what a cool story to tell with pics to back it up, too! Glad you made it back ok!

Good report rockstar. Well written and very nice photos. I literally spewed the water I was drinking when I read the "How about a little privacy here?" comment. I know now if I ever see chewed bear ropes hanging around a site I'll be a movin' on brother.

I'm surprised you stayed at the camp as long as you did! good trip report though.

After reading this I'm convinced the short-barreled shotgun, rubber slugs and bean-bag rounds will be coming along on my trip. Good grief. What is most disturbing is their complete indifference to man.

Nice report. Thanks for taking the time to share your story & photos.

Bummer about the bear troubles. Very memorable if nothing else? :)

Didn't know it at the time.... But I, believe we met last year on Disappointment during those gale force winds/waves. Your group camped just off of our site.

At least it sounds like you had some fairly decent fishing?

Crooked Doughnuts?! Recipe please! :)

Those bears were a bit of trouble! Wonder how the rest of the summer will go in that area?

Thanks guys.

@Tusc. I remember you at our makeshift campsite last year. Bears seem to follow us wherever we go. And the fishing was spectacular, especially on Crooked. There's just something about that lake that really makes it feel personal when you're fishing on it.

@paddle. Crooked Doughnuts are easy but require you to carry in things that you will only use once, such as 2 small bread pans. Bring in 2 loaves of frozen dough and try and keep them as cool as possible so they don't start to rise in your food pack. Place them in the bread pan 8 hours before you're ready to use and spread some water on the top so it doesn't dry out. Heat a pan up and put about 1/2 a block of crisco till it's melted on the bottom. After the dough has risen, start tearing chunks and twisting them up. Throw the dough pieces in the pan till each side is crisp golden brown, they don't have to be in the pan long so keep an eye on them. Serve as a breakfast item with syrup!

For some reason my pictures only show up as a file icon. this happened in my last trip report too and I can't figure out why. I've contacted a moderator but have heard nothing back. you can still see the photo if you click on the icon.
