Great trip report as always - thanks for sharing it with us! Extra fun to have both you and Spartan 2 write reports about the same trip. I am hoping to get to Frost and/or Cherokee this summer so it's fun to read about it and see so much of it ahead of time.

Thanks for the great Trip Report and photos Ho Ho. I am glad everyone had a good time. It must have been terrible when Piwi was unaccounted for on the portage. I cant' believe she went swimming down the creek looking for you.
I like the full size photos. Viewing them was almost like being on the water until I looked out the window at all the snow and ice here.

Great job. Looking forward to 2013 reports.

Agreed. Great report. I'm heading to Cheeroke in May. It's nice to get an idea on a few sites and portage info. Great photos as always.

Always enjoy your reports..so descriptive and thorough. We went through that area a couple of falls ago. We looped up through Long Island Lake, down through Brule then the N Temperance. Lovely paddling spots on the creeks and near the Frost! Thanks for sharing.

Very enjoyable read as usual. It's a great thing to help others and also get in a good adventure yourselves. After hearing the lost Piwi story I think she was after that canoe and probably the only reason she was in the water. Hopefully she will remember that hard earned lesson.

Also, your friends who write for the BWJ made me think that you too should publish some writing in that mag. You certainly have the talent. Looking forward to many more of yours and David's adventures.

Enjoyed your report, Ho Ho, and had to go back and reread Spartans. It's not often we get two reports of one trip, although I might give both viewpoints from my next solo ;).

+1

Echo was not a fan of being on a leash while the Sawbill dogs tormented him either. He didn't think it was very fair :)

Excellent trip report. It's a good antidote for cabin fever. Thanks.

HoHo, a wonderful report. I have always enjoy your style and delivery and continue to. While I will admit Spartan2's photo's are often exceptional, yours are awesome as well.

A wonderful trip report which focuses on how on-line friendships can lead to wonderful exchanges and experiences in canoe country. I also have benefited from this phenomenon.

Thanks for showing it with grace and wonderful photo's.

Great Report as usual. It was nice that you could trip with the Spartans. I have always admired their tripping career.

Very enjoyable read, and educational as well. Now I know what a Helot is. Beautiful photos. So glad Piwi didn't stay lost.

Take care,
Lil M.

Another excellent trip report - so enjoyable to read - thank you!

We also climbed down that HUGE beaver dam and paddled and paddled the winding creek to avoid the portage near Ada Lake (we weren't exactly sure we were on the right path) - when we finally got through we were laughing at how much easier it would have been to just take the portage. But it was fun.
Spartan2 04/19/2013 07:09AM
"Helots"?? That does sound better than "portage monkeys", doesn't it? LOL!

Great report, Ho Ho. Actually, having BEEN on this trip, I suppose I can say that more precisely than anyone. It was fun for us, and it was also fun to read this and see your (David's) great photos! Thanks!
