Nice report Ruth. It's always fun to read reports by first timers and experience their excitement. BTW, I was in Nebraska last spring when SunCatcher invited me to canoe the upper Snake River in the Sand Hills.

thanks for the nice note and I looked at your pic's you have the cutest springer also. Sam was so good and just waited for us each day to see where we were headed, she loves the canoe. She also likes to go tubing with me when we are at the lake in our boat.

I hope you make your trip next summer. What lakes or routes are you thinking of doing? We read alot of trip reports and looked alot of pictures getting ready for our trip, it really helps. I was glad that my husband Dan had the dream and included me. Will be watching next year for your trip report.

Thwarted,
Thanks for the vote of courage to keep going on those BWCA trips.
It was fun and alot of work, but worth it.

Thanks for the report. We headed into Cherokee the day after you left, and we had lunch at your site while out and about one day. Love the view to the west from the site.

Yeah Ruth . My wife no longer can go with me so I appreciate your brave exploits and sportsmanship. Rock on Ruthie!

Thanks for the note. HA! Yeah my husband was taking down the food bag and every time I tried to get his picture he moved so I thought he looked like big foot.

I enjoyed your trip report, Ruth. Congratulations on your inaugural trip to God's country, aka BWCA. Sounds like Sam enjoyed herself too.

Ruth,
SunCatcher here from Norfolk, Nebraska.
(Also known as Paul)
Very nice report, I have been on that trail to cherokee.
Very glad to read something. From another cornhusker fan!

Nice picture!

Great report. I loved when you said "Mission Accomplished"! Did you see bigfoot? The 2nd to last picture looks like you captured him on film LOL. I'm kidding.

good job ruth! I've stayed at that site before with my sons.....big rock point sticking out into the lake. It's a beauty.

What a good report, Ruth! I hope you go on more BWCA trips, and perhaps venture out beyond staying in one campsite! We also bought our first canoe in 1973, (after loving our first canoe trip with a rented canoe in 1971), but we took it right to the Minnesota canoe country then and have been going ever since!

Nice of you to call it "my" rock, by the way, but I know a lot of other people love it, too. :-)

I enjoyed going on your trip with you. My favorite part of the BWCA.

Nice report, now you are hooked. Where is next years BWCAW trip planned? My guess is you talked about it on the way home?

Thanks (Linda)Spartan2 for the note, we feel honored to have you read our report, reading and following your story on the BWCA is what made us choose this trip, for our first trip. I am sure we will venture to other lakes and campsites someday, but it was nice for the first trip to have this be our home for 5 days. It was beautiful.

Very nice report, Ruth. Sounds like you had a great time.
It only took me 20 years to go back to the Boundary Waters. Gosh where does the time go? It feels good to fulfill a lifelong dream, doesn't it.
Take care and happy paddling on your next BW trip.

Nice trip report - I enjoyed your story and your photos - especially the one of your dog in the chair! We also entered the BW on August 26th (Moose Lake) and know how hot it was Monday through Wednesday of that week. Once it rained on Thursday, things cooled down a lot. Thanks for sharing your story.

Ruth,

We'll be going in through Poplar, Lizz, Caribou and Horseshoe. Probably stay on either Vista, Gaskin or Winchell. Haven't decided yet.

Great report and pics! My wife and I are going on our first BWCA trip next summer, both at the age of 43. It's been a dream of mine since I was in my 20's. Your report/story really inspired me to make sure our trip happens next summer.
