Thanks for your report. Have been in that area and loved it. Omega, to me, is a gem of a lake. This was from one of my fave campsites when we were there.

Nice report. You kids had some tough weather to deal with but it sounds like you got through it OK. Thank your lucky stars all our trips aren't in weather like that. Sometimes you see moose and sometimes you don't but you can bet some have seen you. Good to hear you are planning for next year. In case you have'nt been welcomed to the board let me be the first. Great report and thanks for putting it together.

What a difference a week can make with weather. We were in the Sawbill area starting on Aug 29th and it was hot and humid for the 5 days we were in. Evan first thing in the morning I was uncomfortable warm in just a t-shirt and shorts.

I have been looking at a very similar trip for us next year, maybe not quite as long and in the opposite direction. What were your favorite lakes on this trip?

Thanks for the trip report - I enjoyed it!

A few years ago I did almost the same trip in the other direction, but did not go south through Winchell and Gaskin, nor over to Frost. The Muskeg-Kiskadinna portage was a tough climb, especially with the canoe, but I remember thinking it would probably be awkward carrying one down going the other direction. And that goes for the Omega-Kiskadinna portage too.

You saw some nice country though that a lot of people avoid for that reason.

Awesome trip report, you maintained a great attitude considering the weather you saw.

It was nice to see that the little spruce tree growing by the fire grate logs at the Frost Lake campsite is still there.

Same tree 2007:

For Cricket67 -
Favorite lakes were probably Frost and Long Island - both had such incredible campsites. I wish we could have gotten down to Cherokee, because I've only heard good things about that one. Also I would have liked to spend some time on Winchell maybe, but it was at the beginning of a travel day and the rain was a dallying deterrent. Some folks we saw exiting said they enjoyed their time on Winchell and that the walleye were biting.
