Nice report. We paddled through Slim one day but didn't look for the portage. I really liked that lake even though we never stayed on it.

Well done! I did the unmarked portage last year on my way to Fat, I remember the fallen tree making for a tough landing. The clarity of the water was astounding. I stayed on the same site on Lower Pauness last year at the end of my loop. Great views. Thanks for sharing, love the photos.

I think your solo trip report and videos encouraged us to do this route! We really wanted to get away from the crowds, and we definitely were able to on that northern half. I want to explore more of the BWCA but EP 14 is definitely my favorite so far.

Would love to head into Fat Lake in early spring and see what the Laker fishing is like!

Thanks, enjoyed the trip report. It brought back memories of my 2nd trip on the same route, except I went through Steep instead of Fat.
