Entry Point 60 - Duncan Lake

Duncan Lake entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Gunflint Ranger Station near the city of Grand Marais, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 30 miles. Access is from W. Bearskin Lake with a 75-rod portage to Duncan Lake and Stairway Portage. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

You're right. I think the best thing for it is to keep moving. I fell the 1st day out and got a bad bone bruise from landing on a rock with my shin. My leg swelled up like a balloon. It hurt but we kept going for the week we planned to be there. I didn't have anywhere near as much pain while out walking a lot as I did when I got in the car to go home and all the swelling settled in my ankle. I probably should have stuck my leg in the lake at 1st for a while to keep it from swelling as much, though. Glad you had a good trip. Spending time with the kids is worth a little pain. They grow up and don't have time anymore.
