Here is a video of the character you heard creating those thumping sounds.

I have a couple around my cabin that keep me company throughout the spring and summer.

Thanks so much for this trip report and links to your videos.
My "kids" (3 sons and DDIL), one young friend, one old friend and I are heading in at Mudro and doing almost the exact same loop in August, so it's nice to see pics of the area we'll be traveling through.
This will be our 7th consecutive year of exploring this beautiful, wilderness that needs our protection more than ever now.

Great trip report, but why was the Arby's odd?

I will paddle eternal, Kevlar and carbon.

We were the only customers in the place. They gave us additional food I think to get rid of it. A "friend" of one of the workers kept coming and going and trying to joke with the staff. He started walking in circles until he eventually sat on the floor by the trashcans. The experience was just odd.

Thanks, enjoyed your trip report. I went in Mudro one year, went the way you came out to Gun and Moosecamp, then back out to Mudro. Stayed on Moosecamp a couple of nights and a couple on Boot Lake.

Nice report! I've done that loop twice and it's a good one. (but we take Jackfish Bay instead of the Horse/Horse River)

Thanks for the report! I’ve done the same loop and it brought some pleasant memories!
