Entry Point 19 - Stuart River

Stuart River entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Kawishiwi Ranger Station near the city of Ely, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 28 miles. Access is a 480-rod portage to the Stuart River.

Lol, I laughed reading your report because I think I just about killed my dad with that Stuart-Fox portage. That one is a humdinger! Way to go on the successful trip, nice to have a couple runners to fetch the truck for you! I’ve done that same run on the Echo Trail a few times myself. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing your trip, I really enjoy reading other people's adventures to learn new things. I went to Stuart last fall and really enjoyed the Stuart River - would have enjoyed it more with some warm weather, but still fun. Thanks again, it sounded like a really fun trip.

Nice report! Though I'm 100% sure that if our family's first two trips had been into Angleworm & Stuart, with those portages, my wife would never have visited the BWCA again. And my body might still be there...
