Sounds like a great trip. We did a similar one a few years back in late May/early June. The falls were flowing hard then and the rivers were all pretty high. I could see how it would be more difficult with low water. Glad the fishing was good, we hit some big ones below the falls.

Great report, I especially enjoyed the awesome photos. I'm envious of all the fish! I don't even bring fishing gear anymore, I gave up.

Update:
It was a 4.8 lb., 21" smallmouth to be exact.
I'm not sure how long the big northern was but I noticed every day it got longer, By the end of trip it was the length of the canoe!!

Sounds like a fish tale to me. :-)

Thanks for the write up. It was definitely interesting to hear about all the different presentations you all tried.

The fish pictures were great too.

Awesome trip report! Sounds like the fishing was pretty excellent for middle of summer. I wanted to get to I-r-o-n last year but ended up diverting to Oyster instead and ended up with a PB lake trout so everything worked out alright. :) Thanks for sharing!!

Great report. It's always educational to read how real anglers tackle new water. I, on the other hand, fish mostly for the exercise and therapeutic benefits.

Excellent report & great pictures. Count me as another who loves to hear about how, why, where, etc. people are catching fish. I've been on a few trips where I seem to be fishing in a swimming pool but y'all didn't seem to have that problem!
