Cool Milky Way photos! I enjoyed your trip report. Great combo of lessons learned, portage info, and philosophical musings. Little Sag is one of my favorite lakes. You made a good choice going there.

Thanks I really enjoyed the report and pictures. They took me back to areas I have enjoyed and reminded me of my changes as a solo BW tripper. It's always nice to get a week of weather like that in the fall.

Great trip report and as other have already commented - beautiful pictures; especially the night time stars. I have done several trips in September and your report reminds me to look at that month again for my next venture.

I'm glad this report was resurrected, both because I enjoyed it, and because two of my daughters and I will be tripping through the area in a couple of weeks. Thanks for including the details about the portages, especially the hidden and false starts - I took notes! Nice starry night photos too! Also, really nice narrative and an enjoyable read all around.

Most importantly, I greatly appreciated your reflections on your heritage. Thank you for including the personal story of your ancestry. Your great-grandpa's connection to the area may not be recorded but it certainly felt like you were living something he might have really enjoyed if given the chance. I also liked how you, your wife, and your children visited Ellis Island together as it completed the family circle, for me as the reader anyways. :) Thanks for including it...nice touch in my book.

My best wishes to you for continued adventures to rekindle your spirit.
