Entry Point 39 - Baker Lake

Baker Lake entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Tofte Ranger Station near the city of Tofte, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 26 miles. Access is a boat landing at Baker Lake with a 10-rod portage into Peterson Lake to reach first campsite. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

The kind of trip I'd love to have. Stayed on those lakes too so enjoyed the report more.
Agreed. It's kind of weird the party of 2 asked to stay at your campsite WHILE YOU WERE BASECAMPED THERE. Just a bit odd.

I really like that area and have been there twice. Once with each of my daughters and it’s at the top of the list when I start taking my 3year old son.


When I was there 7 years ago with my older daughter at age 9 we stayed at the other site on Jack. The site you stayed at is definitely nicer than that one. We were there in June and it’s low swampy closed in and extremely buggy. On that trip we saw lots of moose.


This year in May I camped on Kelly with my 13 year old daughter and we stayed at the site where Jack dumps into Kelly.
