Entry Point 16 - Moose/Portage River (North of Echo Trail)

Moose/Portage River (north) entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by La Croix Ranger Station near the city of Ely, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 27 miles. Access is a 160-rod portage heading North from the Echo Trail.

Nice report. I read a lot of trip reports and enjoy them but for some reason your report really gave me the urge to want to go back this fall, most don't have that effect on me. Nice job.

Really enjoyed your report - I did that route in 2018 with my Cousin and we really enjoyed that area. Your report brings back lots of memories - beautiful area. Thanks for taking the time to share.

Great Report. Really enjoyed your story telling.


We did a really similar route in June of 21. We even stayed at a few smog the same sites. Reading your trip report has got me very excited for our trip this June!
