Entry Point 50 - Cross Bay Lake

Cross Bay Lake entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Gunflint Ranger Station near the city of Grand Marais, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 45 miles. Access is thru the Cross River with two portages to Ham Lake and a 24-rod portage to Cross Bay Lake. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

Nice report. Sounds like an awesome trip! Glad you had a good time and didn't let the rain ruin the experience. Once I used a bunkhouse I never went back to tent camping the night before entry day.

My group was camped out on Ham and Snipe that weekend! That sunset on Friday after the rain was amazing. Did you see any meteors like we did?

Nice report, I did that route a few years back (12) and we enjoyed it very much. I admire you as you are doing such a great job introducing the kids to the experience of the BWCA. I have introduced 3 of my Grandkids and it is like minnows taking to water, they all love it and have gone back to continue to learn about the different areas.
