Excellent report!

As I started reading it I thought, "Wedgewood, Swen & Ollies, SOB! I can relate ... " Then I read my name. LOL! No wonder. :)

Loved the report.

I agree with Bannock-I thought hey-been there done that.

Bannock and I have been to SOB enough we almost feel like the locals. Now we just walk in like we own the place! LOL

I do remember one year we stayed at Wedgewood Jim and Ken got there before Larry and I as we arrived really late (about midnight) Amy had left our key on the desk so we went to bed, got up the next morning (a little later than we had agreed to with Jim and Ken) and could not see Jim's car so we figured they had gone to town for breakfast. Got to SOB and no Jim and Ken and now we were wondering if we had the instructions wrong. Jim and Ken did the same thing and did not see our caras we had parked it well into the woods at Wedgewood as that was the only space big enough. Luckily we did all meet at SOB finally and had breakfast with all the deer hunters.

well, thats a very nice trip report HPD, very well put together. However, I don't recall pitchstump telling me about this canoe trip last fall. Last I knew, he was at an injection molding convention ? He will definitely be hearing about this when he gets home from work today, and its very possible I will never let him go on another canoe trip..ever.. HAHAHA LOL.

BB08, LOL
I guess......
so much for the father/son canoe trips, huh?
but, think of it this way, I will not be losing a son........ I will be gaining a daughter :)
Think you can keep up with the old man?

Eh - we'll all keep up just fine with each other.

Couple things you forgot.

1. The aluminum row boat was littered with crushed beer cans (BW violation)

2. The wolves howled for us after the full moon at dawn on brule.

Great read, thanx.
Good pics too, set "leaving little trout" as my desktop.

I do so enjoy doing stonework on fire pits. I know it can be aggravating to you and BB08. Any one else like really good rockwork on a fire place.

Agree, I'll take the wall over the mechanics series any day. too bad there is no camp site on cam, would have been great. but would have messed up the timing of Karl and the rest of the trip also.

is it may yet????????

This area was my first real BW loop. We went the Winchell route. Your descriptions of that 290 out of Swan and the Misquah-Little Trout portages are too kind if I remember correctly. I think they both got a piece of me. Wasn't seasoned yet. I absolutely love your picture of the portage out of Ram Lake. Brings back memories-and the mile walk back to the car at Bower Trout-still had 2 cans of beer in cooler water when I got there. May they always be there....Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your "thumbs-up" on my report. I suppose I could have been a little more colorful in my descriptions of the portages. Yes, they do take a bite out of you. But, the reward and the memories are priceless :)

So, only 2 cans of beer waiting for you?

The end of the trip toast is sweet, and looked forward to. We keep a slightly larger stash along with salami and cheese. Cheers.

Nice trip report. I remember going hip deep into the muck at the BT landing also. Great way to start a trip.
