Little Indian Sioux River (north) entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by La Croix Ranger Station near the city of Ely, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 32 miles. Access is a 40-rod portage heading North from the Echo Trail.

It's very hard to put a dog down. Might as well bury your heart right with it. It was probably good to spend some time on the water. Do some reflecting and absorbing the wonderful nature around you.

Hey, Chessie--your report brought back memories of dogs we've lost through the years, and made my eyes more than a little moist. Good to read that your preoccupation with your loss only resulted in some hunger pangs and confusion in geography, nothing more serious. Mother Nature, in doses both small and large, is a great healer. Yeah, everything's gonna be all right.
