Wow I have so much to say I don't know where to start!
You guys are amazing to stick with the outfitter situation. Not sure how you fit two American adults and a dog in a 2 person tent!
How do pet rules change over the course of a week?

I have to say I understand the dimpled pots. I'd guess from hammering in tent stakes or just getting the pack tossed around

Your trip sounds great. It is a pleasure trying new places and testing yourself with difficult portages. Builds character, they say. Ha! Who needs more character?

Loved the photos fish stories and the pup fishing too.

Since you've done so many trips, are there other reports posted on this site?

Thanks for your entertaining tale.

Kudos to you for not letting that disastrous start prevent you from having a great trip. Curious whether you reviewed your route with that outfitter before disembarking - perhaps having seen how they equipped you, it may have been pointless. Can't imagine an eight hour slog between lakes.

Sounds like I'm about your age and my trip this year also reminded my body that it has new limits. That Trease to Angleworm portage remains as my toughest ever but I did it over 30 years ago! I cannot imagine how "fun" it would be for me today or for someone else of similar "vintage"!

Thanks for this report.

Hey, neighbor! (we're in Pisgah Forest). Great trip report, and it's always nice to see such a positive attitude after your adventure. It would have been so easy to unload about the outfitter, the mosquitoes, the weather, and the portages. I also like seeing 'more experienced' paddlers single-walking portages. We're heading in next month--hope it's a bit drier with fewer bugs. May your next year's trip be dry with perfect gear, etc!

Thanks for the kind words. I have always said that I would post trip reports and actually started one a few years ago, but no, this is my first and only.

TZ. Being local it would be great to get together and share our tales. Also maybe paddle together.
