Entry Point 61 - Daniels Lake

Daniels Lake entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Gunflint Ranger Station near the city of Grand Marais, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 33 miles. Access is from W. Bearskin Lake with a 60-rod portage to Daniels Lake and 460-rod portage to Rose Lake. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

Nice report! Thanks for sharing. I also am a basecamper, do a lot of day trips. I like to fish so we also do a lot of that. That's the best part of the BWCA, whether tripping or basecamping, it's always a great time!

jfred17 - I really like both types of trips, the basecamping and fishing gives you a chance to know the lake and relax. It has been a while since I have done a "tripping" trip but I unjoy those too.

Mongo65 - The finger is healing pretty well - I should have gotten a before and after pic but wasn't really thinking about that. And yes, other than that, it was a good time.

bojibob - I tried what you suggested as well as several other things. I suppose I could just upload them...

Nice job with your cut and the plastic glove...good idea (will keep that one in the back of my head should a similar situation arise).

Very cool about the wolves! And seeing a moose. Glad you had a good time.
