Entry Point 1 - Trout Lake

Trout Lake entry point allows overnight paddle or motor (25 HP max). This entry point is supported by La Croix Ranger Station near the city of Cook, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 30 miles. Access from LakeVermilion via 60-rod canoe portage or 180-rod portage that allows the use of portage wheels. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

Nice report! Sounds like you had a lot of great fishing. I'd love to see the video of the fish inhaling the bait. Did I miss the link?

Loved the part about "looks like my wife is smiling but she wasn't that happy" or something like that... Got a kick out of that one.
Anyway, great report, and awesome that you and your folks went.
We did all our own food also for five day trip and well worth the time preparing. Great Report.

Enjoyed this fine report. Losing that monster was tough. You'll always wonder what it was. But your Mom looks like she had a thrill with that big pike. I'm envious of you because your family seems to really enjoy these trips. Hope there's many more for you guys.
