Nice report. We did some of that area, but we had a tow to American Point on Sag and then looped through Ottertrack with a jaunt to Gigikikki and then Knife, etc. The day we were on Sag it was windy and very wavy - it was a very tough paddle. We would have set camp early but all the campsites were full...guess no one wanted to travel in those conditions. Hope the weather Gods are with you on your next trip!

Interesting report, graduate slave. Interesting trip, too. I've been on a couple of those where I wondered what I did to draw the wrath of the gods. I believe they're just capricious ;). The gods must be crazy :). Sounds like you did a good job of meeting the challenges this trip presented. I'm sure you learned things for the next one - like having the correct offerings along for the gods.

How to you like the portage from from Eddy to Knife? When we were there in July 09 it was a killer & I can't imagine getting any easier. A nice tree down in the middle of it was a surprise. Mud, rocks, a nice river next to you to keep you company. It was hell back then.

Graduate Slave,I had a very similar experience with this route. I went a couple years ago with my wife and sister-in-law in late August. Heading west across Seagull was nothing but high wind and whitecaps. Then heavy winds our entire time on Ogish. and all the way back on Seagull. That was definitely my worst trip.

I'm heading up to Malberg this June with 3 other guys. Should be easier on me.
