Cool report. I can not wait until late June to finally enjoy the BWCA by soloing for 5 or 6 days.

Jon, you are a paddling and portaging machine! Such a great area to go through. What a crazy spring this year.

Nice report - and I love the new terms for the BDB's :) That's great!

I enjoyed reading this report, especially the latter part where you leave Jasper for Ottertrack (Yes, it's Cypress on some maps, especially older ones), back through Plough, Emerald to Carp.

I was just thinking of that portage from Ottertrack to Plough (or from Plough to Ottertrack, which is the direction I did it.) Years ago I did a loop from Cache Bay through the Falls chain, down Agnes, and back out through Carp, Emerald, Plough to Ottertrack. I had done that same loop before and had come back through Knife Lake. I think the Carp-Emeral-Plough route was better. Those portages from Emerald to Plough and Plough to Ottertrack are beautiful, as I remember, with all the cypress trees. It's like another world. The Plough portage is a tough one, though, as I remember, especially the descent at the end going toward Ottertrack, with the rocks and the creek.

I admire your courage to get out on the lakes this early. Many years the ice isn't out yet in April.

I noticed, on another page (Quetico Forum), you said you had been doing Quetico Trips for 30 years. Any chance you would do a report of some of these past ones?

Thanks
