I'm glad your wife enjoyed her first trip. I go with my son, he loves the BWCA. My wife wouldn't consider canoeing at all. her idea of camping is staying at the Holiday Inn.

Nice report! Was hoping to see pictograph pictures so I new what I was looking for when I head to Fishdance in June...

A few photos with the pictographs did make it into my wife's Facebook albums (and she said she made them public, so they should be viewable). Let me know if the links I provided did not work.

Unfortunately, some of our photos didn't turn out well--we were sharing the camera, and I had set it to manual focus. When my wife got it back and started shooting, I forgot to tell her to change it back.

Nice report, you might post some pictures, I'm not a facebook fan, and don't want to be.....but I'd like to see the pictures.

nice report and great pics...she looks happy!
Charlene likes the Holiday Inn also as Wawawsee said. I think maybe she would do one portage or two and a base camp?
Well done.

Fishguts, my wife set the albums to be publicly visible, supposedly without needing to sign up for Facebook. I did add some additional pictures to the report, though, in case you'd still perfer not to visit the other site.

In retrospect, we covered too much water for a first day, especially with a newbie. If going up with a green group and considering a similar route, I strongly recommend putting in and camping along the numbered chain, and then pushing further in on day two.

First off, you two look way too young to have 10 kids. :) How wonderful that you got away. The happiness in your wife's face says it all. She obviously loved it. Thanks for sharing your story.

I enjoyed your trip report. My husband and I only had two children, but we also took canoe trips (over many years) without children. It is a good way to reinforce your "couple-hood" and learn new things about each other.

But I did find myself wondering--didn't you have rain gear? It seemed to me you got awfully wet on that one day. Of course, it was May, so I am sure it wasn't that warm either. :-) Glad you were able to warm up and sleep well on that long day.

Love the photo of the tent and canoe in the foreground and the misty lake in the background. Beautiful!
