Entry Point 1 - Trout Lake

Trout Lake entry point allows overnight paddle or motor (25 HP max). This entry point is supported by La Croix Ranger Station near the city of Cook, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 30 miles. Access from LakeVermilion via 60-rod canoe portage or 180-rod portage that allows the use of portage wheels. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

Thanks for sharing that billsta. Sounds like you had pretty good fishing and a minimum of problems. I've seen the Moose River area both crowded and deserted. I guess you never know what to expect, eh?

Yes, it was a great trip with good fishing. The trip didn't feel crowded until our last day on the way out. We actually had Boulder Bay to ourselves for two full days and saw only one other group in 3 days fishing on the Boulder River.
I understand the popularity of this EP, what with great fishing, beautiful scenery, lots of wildlife, lots of options for routes, etc.
