Fun trip, fun report. I hope to put this area under my canoe rather soon on one of my annual trips.

Thanks for the trip report, Ron1. I spent a night on Boot on my way through to Moosecamp, and a night there on the way back out a few years ago. I stayed at the middle campsite, but remember the one you stayed at looked nice, too. I had to fight the wind on my way out, too. It's a nice area and was a nice trip. Hope you have a good trip this year. Where will it be?

Nice trip report and pics. Looks like fun was had by you both. I'd like to know what kind of bugs bit up your brother. I stayed a night on Boot in 2007 at the middle site. It's a nice lake but base camping is not something I really enjoy. I get the itch to move after two nights on a site. Well, thanks for posting, I enjoyed it.

Thanks for commenting guys; I was starting to get hurt feelings that it was up for a few days with no comments, when all the other reports had bunches of responses. :-)
Boonie: we are basecamping on Dissapointment this year, assuming we get a campsite there.
TomT: In my younger days I would have preferred a loop, but now setting up the tent just once is enough. And it's really my one chance for good fishing so I don't want to waste time traveling.
bwcadan: Thanks for being the first to comment, and thanks for the positive response, glad you enjoyed it and I hope there is at least some info in there that might help you plan a trip in that area.

Thanks for the trip report. My wife and I spent 5 nights at that campsite last August. A lot of our trip sounded like yours. We had plenty of wind and not much fishing action, although we did not spend a lot of time fishing. Our experience on Fairy Lake was identical to yours. Our first three nights there was no one else camping on the lake, so we just decided to stay there for our whole trip. That site also gets Verizon cell phone reception which was nice so our kids could reach us if necessary. It wet our appetite enough that we have decided to try Quetico this year.

Have a good trip, Ron, and kill as many of those bugs as you can.

I have stayed on Boot many times in the past. My biggest Walleye ever was caught on Boot.

My family and I are going up to this area this August! We will not be staying on boot at all though we will be going further in. Nice trip report, wind can definitely make fishing hard!
