Awesome!

Thank you so much for posting. I am taking a group to the same entry point in less than two weeks, so I was very happy to see your report on that 216 rod portage from LP to Shell lake. I know that trail has low parts and is prone to flooding out. Your information will be very helpful to me, so I honestly appreciate your report very much!

Give me a hiking trail and a pack of supplies, and I'm a happy camper

Thanks, bapabear - I enjoyed the report and pictures. LIS North was my 1st BW solo (2nd BW trip) and, although all did not go exactly as planned, it is still one of the most memorable and one of my favorites. I hope to get back to that area one of these times.

That EP was the first I ever did. It's a pretty area. Thanks for describing it again so well. Hope the memories add to your healing.

Another great report!

You sure cram a lot of adventure into your trips! Had to laugh a little when you thought you shorted yourself on clothing before realizing you had most of it on. I think we've all been there at one time or another.Very neat that you were able to see & meet a fellow bwca.com'r in the BWCA.

Thanks for taking the time to share your story & photos.

Nice report bapa, I was with butthead on that campsite. The other side of that shell-heritage flow was luckier for me. I caught 4-5 good sized bass. 3+lbs I am thinking. One northern that was probably 4+. I am not an expert at judging fish size but I caught some nice fish. No camera and no stringer! That's what happens on an unplanned little day trip. Good to hear you also had a nice trip. I will return to LIS someday.

Without the bad times, the good times wouldn't seem so good.

pswith5,

Our first night on Shell the other three went for a cruise while I stayed in camp. Cody, the youngest one, came back all excited that they talked to "someone" who suggested jigs with yellow twister tails. THAT is exactly what he used, with success. Was that you with the good advice? Thanks.

Thwarted,

Thank you for your kind words. I'm feeling blessed in that two months after immunotherapy the oncologist reported my platelets were at near "normal" levels!

Thank you all for taking time to read and comment! I'm really itching to try a fall trip yet this year but a lot of things have to fall into place first.
