Entry Point 1 - Trout Lake

Trout Lake entry point allows overnight paddle or motor (25 HP max). This entry point is supported by La Croix Ranger Station near the city of Cook, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 30 miles. Access from LakeVermilion via 60-rod canoe portage or 180-rod portage that allows the use of portage wheels. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

This is a cool trip report, ECPizza. It's like reading a book and having to just conjure up the images all in your head. What a great thing that you were able to have this experience at such an impressionable phase in your life.


I remember the storms of '87. I was 7 at the time and my family had just moved to Apple Valley about 3 weeks earlier. The streets were pretty much lakes that night. For several days, the drainage ponds in the neighborhood were way flooded and you couldn't even get to some of the playgrounds in the parks because of it :)
