Sounds like you had a good trip even with the "cool" weather.

Trips often come with some sort of adversity, but I've never been on a trip that wasn't good!

Great report! I had my wife up on many of the same lakes 1 month earlier for her first trip.

Were all the lakers caught trolling? Care to enlighten as to productive lures?

Unbelievable laker. Nice to see they make that size.

Yes, we caught the lakers trolling ~40 feet down over water that was anywhere from 50-120 feet deep. They hit on a variety of spoons, but blue/silver was the most consistent producer, and that's what caught the big one. Finding the right spot wasn't always easy, but once a laker was caught, we could usually troll back through the same area and pick up a few more.

Nice laker and congrats on the 20+ years of marriage. Last summer was a bit on the cool side up here. I never even brought my portable AC up from the basement.

I'll take last year's cool summer over the scorcher we had in 2012 anytime! Funny thing is every time I take my wife there is some extreme weather involved. She's only been on a few trips with me, but has been on a couple of the warmest (97 degrees) and coldest (25 degrees and sleet) trips I've taken. Fortunately, she is not easily deterred and plans to go back again.

I enjoyed reading your report. I travel with my husband also. Some of our best memories have been in the BWCA. Nice photos and fish!
