I love the fact that, after your trip, you decided to climb Eagle Mountain!

Thanks. Funny thing is, I took a $4 shower at the outfitters, then proceeded to walk 7 miles, uphill both ways. Camped at the Cascade River State Park on Sunday night, and needless to say I was ready for another shower!

Great report. Sounds like you had a great trip and a lot of fun. Glad you made it back safe. We'll be tripping together next summer for sure!

Thanks, sounds like you had a great trip. I really enjoy solos too. I did my first out of necessity - go solo or don't go! By the third one I had my own way figured out. I've done 6 solos now and although I won't be solo this year, my soloing days aren't over yet. Thanks for the report.

Btw, one thing about raccoons (and you may already know this) - there're nocturnal animals. If you see one in the daytime, there's a high probability it's rabid, so keep a distance.

Thanks for the wise advice on raccoons. The one I saw checking out my canoe and lifejacket was quite surprised to see a human at 4:30 am!
I experienced the joy of being amused by a small herd of baby chipmunks at the same campsite. Life's simple pleasures!

Yes, it's a joy and a pleasure. One of the advantages of going solo is that I see and observe more.

I really enjoyed your trip report, and your photos are beautiful. I found myself wishing that there were more of them.

This area is a special favorite of mine, and it was like taking a trip back there to go with you. Thanks.

(When we were camped on Weird in 1992 we saw so many moose we actually did another layover day just to enjoy more of it. That area is famous for moose, but of course you don't always see them there, I guess.)

Nice report. Considering doing something like this in the fall.

Without the bad times, the good times wouldn't seem so good.
