Great report and looks like you guys had a great time. Which night did you see the "things" in the sky? We were up there last week and I believe Wednesday night (20th, only clear one of the week) we saw a bright light just over the trees on the horizon. We weren't paying much attention to it or anything in general, just looking at the stars. Then both my Dad and I looked at it and the light just disappeared. Never moved, just gone. We asked each other if we saw it, yep.

Not sure what it was.

Cyclones30- It was Saturday night Aug 16th, our only clear night as well, that we saw the 'objects' in the sky... I'm not surprised you saw something and I bet there are lots of strange sightings- it makes me curious! Thanks for taking the time to read and post!

I’m not sure when all the aircraft including the Blue Angles arrived in the area, or if they practiced in the area beforehand. But last weekend was the Duluth Air Show. Air space restrictions started Tuesday Aug 19th. Also the 148th Fighter Wing of the Duluth Air Guard practices night maneuvers over Lake and Cook Counties at times. It makes for quite the weird show in the sky.
