As it turns out, I'm cheating this year and staying in a cabin! This doesn't even count. I know.

The good thing about winter though is that you can go on a whim, so you never know. Perhaps we'll just string up the hammocks in our backyard! That'll basically be the same as camping anyways!

I Think Jaywalker makes a great point. The reason I enjoy winter camping so much is the challenge along with the solitude of course. We take longer and farther trips every year and although I am typically exhausted by the end I am already starting to think about the next trip and what I can do to improve my experience.

I have used that same analogy before on some backpacking trips in the BWCA.
Each spring I get pretty excited to punish my legs and knees.

I don't think that's so uncommon. In the moment you focus on the struggles, but afterwards you think of ways to do things better and see the problems as challenges. My first ever night camping was cold and wet, and here I am decades later still constantly working at it.

Same selective amnesia going on? :-)

Like a woman who's just delivered her baby says, ugh - not going to do that again... I/we said - winter camping... not going to do that again...

Last night - BasecampDad just said, so... maybe we can go winter camping in 2018? .... yep... maybe...

We're such suckers.
