+1 these are great route recommendations as well.
Stuart is a gem that time of year...

I'd consider Stuart Lake. It's a bit more of a trek but the walleye fishing is excellent. Upper and Lower Pauness and Shell Lake also offer the good walleye fishing as well.

Oops. Thought I had put the rough dates in. Mid May is what we're thinking. I've been to Gabbro quite a few times and it's one of my favorite lakes but I'd like to try something new. I haven't been into Wood before so I'm leaning that way.

I sure do love wood lake. Bass, pike, walleye....

If you take a day trip up to good lake and paddle the creek up to back bay I hear that is a good walleye spot as well.

Indiana has lots of bass but I did see a couple 25"+ walleye deep down last year. Very very clear water.

When month/dates are you going?
Wood is an easy entry and has decent Walleye fishing.
You could also try an easy paddle into Big Moose Lake, EP 8 Moose River South.
Or Little Gabbro/Gabbro/Bald Eagle area.
Lots of options...

I'm going to need to run up to Ely to grab a canoe I recently purchased from an outfitter (poor me I know). Anyway, I'd like to do a quick 3 night fishing trip while I'm there. I'd like to have good chance a campsite on a decent fishing lake (walleyes would be the target species). I'm thinking EP 7 (Big) or EP 26 (Wood). Any other recommendations?
