05/29/2018 03:24PM You've got 2 couple of choices on routes, the most direct being through Clear Lake and the longer being up the North K and then down the South K. There's only one rapids I can think of on that entire long route that you can run safely, the rest you're either going upstream or they would be pretty dangerous to float down. Good fishing below most of those rapids, especially for smallmouth. ParkerMag - a 'booger'? That portage to Greenstone is straight up. 05/21/2018 08:06AM Along your route is one of the prettiest lakes in the area I can recall - Greenstone, or Stone lake. Was in the mid-70s that I visited, but I recall it being beautiful. Portage into the lake was difficult to find at the time, then a bit of a booger to get over - that, few camp sites, and being a dead end likely keeps the crowds down even today though. |

05/20/2018 08:21PM Did this a couple of years ago. Went further into Bald Eagle. Went across and down Kawishiwi, came back via Clear. Floated some, walked one, and portaged one iirc. In the fall. I think each one is a judgement call at the time you're there. Loved Clear. |

05/20/2018 04:08PM Hey guys... I'm planning a trip from entry point 31 Farm Lake to 32 South Kawishiwi River. Going in June 7th and coming out June 10th. This is our first trip. There will potentially be eight of us with four canoes. Looking for any tips you guys might have for first timers... gear, food, fishing tactics, etc. I know there are some rapids along that stretch. Can we float most of them or are there some that must be portaged? Thanks guys! |
