If you haven't experienced the Falls Chain in the Q yet then get your arse in gear and start planning.

The further in you go the better the fishing. Last time we were up at Kawnipi we had a 30 walleye day and totaled way over that for the couple days we spent on Kawnipi.

Lots of awesome waterfalls.

Less people than the BWCA although the falls chain is quite popular.

Also.....GO CYCLONES!

I'd vote for a Lake One to Insula. Insula is a fairly big lake but with all the islands and bays it can feel small. The fishing can be very good and again, those islands can provide shelter so you can fish most any day even if the wind comes up. If the weather is nice and calm, you can move to Alice or just day trip there. Alice is my favorite fishing lake as it has some offshore reefs that always seem to produce nice fish but it can get rough on a windy day.

Enter hog creek and across isabella river through gabbros and out at farm or lake one. Small water mostly. Good wildlife viewing. Just a thought that fits the map gaps.

A Clearwater/Johnson Falls trip isn't on that map and is on many people's bucket lists.

That's probably our next trip. But I also want to have a route or two in mind if some new people want to go again or whenever the next BW trip happens. Thanks for the thoughts. All good calls, south of Gunflint, small lakes between 14 and 16, etc.

Kawishiwi Lake north to Malberg

I see a lot of potential there. Like cowdoc, the whole chunk south of the Gunflint trail beckons. Lots of trips in there, and it's nice country too. Also, you really ought to see the far eastern BW. It's just so much different then much of the rest that you shouldn't miss seeing it. Also, there's a lot of nice lakes that you missed between Moose river North and LIS....hustler, oyster, rocky, finger, pocket. Really nice little lakes.

Based on the number of black lines, you should be thinking about Q seriously.

I'd go Baker entry or Brule entry as you haven't been to that area. Lots of loops available and just because you enter on Brule doesn't mean you have to fish it.

Our next canoe trip may be to the Q, but our map hanging in the kitchen has me debating our next route in the BW as well. We like to fish and aren't afraid to travel. The wife isn't a fan of big lakes for fishing as lately we've done better on med to smaller ones.

Black lines are our previous routes. We like to try new areas but some overlap is ok.

I've debated Crab/Cummings, something SW from Poplar, Lady Chain near Sawbill, something in the Vento unit, Baker Lake and north, etc. Any thoughts are welcome!
