I did a day trip in there a few weeks ago (since I live in the neighborhood). I’d been into Keneu once before and remembered that the portage is a little obscure on the Hook end but it exists and is on the left side of the creek (facing it from Hook). Basically you just get out on the rocky area left of the creek and if you look a bit further back you will see the path. For whatever reason, the takeout does not show the usual wear and tear that helps with portage finding. Like several of the takeouts on the route from Slim, it’s also somewhat rugged.

EDIT - I guess I should have watched the video you linked to before posting - yep, that’s where it is!

I knew I had to be about that close! Thanks much!

I had the exact same problem. I was lucky that the Hook campsite was open though.

Watch this, and be frustrated that you were that close. This is a video of the portage by a community member here. See that tree leaning on the left side of your photo? Doh! I watched the video the day I got back.

Hook to Keneu

Yesterday, 7/24/19, I did a day trip from Slim Lake to Keneu Lake. Thankfully I had to cancel my plan to do a 3-day solo as every campsite on the 4-lake chain was occupied, but that's another story. I think I missed the "real" portage to Keneu. All I could find was this boulder bed with a huge tree down about chest high at Keneu side. After traversing that short but extreme route I searched nearby shoreline for about 15 minutes for the portage I figure I missed, but no luck. I have read that the portage follows a creek. I think I was ON the creek itself. Any advice for next time?
