Saw some on Poplar a few years ago. I was fishing one evening and on particular
otter was very curious about me. It would circle the canoe over and over again getting just a bite closer each time. Once it got close enough that it was within reaching distance of my bobber I opted to reel in for the night. It was getting a bit dark and I wanted no part of a foul hooked otter.

My wife and I saw 3 on Popular last Saturday while stay at Rockwood. They entertained themselves and us for about a half hour.

On my way out last week I saw a couple on Tin Can Mike. Always one of my favorite wildlife sightings.

We were watching a family of otters play below Lower Basswood Falls a few years ago. Had a walleye on the stringer as we fished from shore and watched them play. Then I got distracted as my son had a fish on. After helping my son, I noticed the otters were quiet, or gone. Turns out they weren’t gone, they were just devouring my walleye right off the stringer. I’ve always been weary of snappers, but this was a first. Once I realized what was happening I ran like crazy, but three of them had that walleye devoured in about 30 seconds. Lol, Now I keep my stringer much closer. We ate pasta that night. ?? It’s still fun to see them swimming around, incredibly social critters.

Nice. I love seeing those things. I never see them anywhere except the Ely area though.

Just an FYI for anyone planning on being in the Fourtown area in the near future.

We stayed at the eastern campsite of Fairy lake on 9/23, and were blessed with a visit from 2 otters while we had our breakfast. Unfortunately no pic since we were trying to shovel calories in our bodies at the time and didn't want to walk clear up that hill to the camera from the tent (if you've been to that campsite - you know what I mean!).

While they didn't hang around terribly long, it seemed that they were curious about us and not terribly frightened. We got to watch them swim around next to the firepit area for a couple minutes and that was that.

Now....if we just just get a Lynx some day.............
