I'm TreeBear's guide buddy. Just got out of Moose River North, entered on Sat Sept 4.

Water levels were low but mostly passable. If paddling up to Agnes, you will have to get out and walk the river a ways.

We had a wood canvas canoe with two guys and two full canoe packs, and a 16' Royalex Prospector with three guys and one full pack. I've been there twice before - once in July of 2019, and once in Sept of 2020.

Here's the breakdown by section:

From entry portage to the 96 rod portage north of Nina Moose: low but not horrible. Regular beaver dams to pull over.

96 rod portage to Agnes: there was about a 1/4-1/2 (?) mile stretch where we had to get out and walk the river and float the canoes. Sand bottom made walking relatively easy. Same sand situation at the mouth of Agnes. You'll get wet on this stretch.

Oyster River (we also paddled from Oyster back to Nina Moose) was very shallow and muddy from the 188 rod portage to the 15 rod portage. Some stretches with not enough water for a boat, and thigh-deep mud.

Our group enjoys mud and wading rivers (it was the highlight for a few of them), so take that all with a grain of salt.

Bottom line: it's a little slower than normal. If you're looking to stay completely dry, probably not the best entry. But if you don't mind that, good to go. Nothing crazy in my book.

We only saw two groups over the weekend. Very quiet.

I have a buddy, a former guide, who was supposed to enter there this weekend. I should hear from him tomorrow night. Water has been so low everywhere I can't imagine it's that easy-going for what normally is a pretty busy route. I guess I'll hear soon enough.

Yup, just a couple days. This is for someone coming up in 5 days, so in case anyone goes there & comes out, maybe I'll have some info for them.

Who knows what the beavers have done in all that time! :-)

It's only been open for a day or so right? Closed for a month or more?

I have someone who wants to travel on the Moose River up beyond Agnes. Has anyone been there, in touch with anyone there? Wondering how the water levels are in the river and the beaver dams leading up to Agnes Lake.
