I've done with one as a day trip. It is about three hours as they say above. Not horrible. I'm in love with that east side of Iron so I'm in favor of getting there any way I can.

And as much as I love Stuart, it's not a lake that holds my attention day after day. So a good, long day trip is in order from there, I feel.

Good luck!

We went to Rebecca Falls. What I remember was that it was an all day adventure and we were back for dinner-maybe 6-ish. The portage out of Stuart is 280 rods? A little long but relatively flat.

About 3 hours from leaving camp on Stewart to the top of Curtain Falls if moving along at a decent pace (single portaging/not moving camp), and not fishing along the way. I'd estimate 8+ hours round trip if fishing, taking one's time, lunch, etc.

Has anyone done this as a day trip? I’m wondering about a rough estimate of travel time. I read that the first portage out of Stewart is pretty rough. We would bring a lunch and some fishing gear. Two paddlers and a canoe. Thoughts?
