There are absolutely no fish of any kind in far NE Iowa. And camping is against the law. There are also no Parks of any kind where someone might partake in such activity.

I had a gunderburger 3 weeks ago. Just as good as always.

Mcsweem is correct fo sho. Turkey river can be really good for a mix bag of trout, smallies and walleye in the same stretch of water.

Those first two pictures in your report are gold. Wonderful times having your son with you. Enjoy it and don't take these times for granted. Damn but I'm jealous. Go again real soon.

Love seeing kids in the woods. Looks like you both had a nice time. Thanks for sharing.

I bp up ther regularly. I really like Brown's for a campsite, although Hefferan's is nice too. Wendel and Schultz would be great if they had some decent water sources instead of having to pack in water. Plus I wish they would put a bping campsite in north of Little Paint Campground.

Mason City. I've been to the BW with some guys that call Oelwein home. Test paddled my Prism at Pleasant Creek Resevoir.

Thanks for the tip. We have never made it that far south yet...talked about it. The Yellow River north of Monona holds some nice trout too, if you din't know."

The Yellow is a great little river, bring your canoe or kayak or rent one in Volney. Here is a video of a float on the Yellow of a nice brown around the 2:10 mark. Yellow River Brown "

So much water...so little time.

There is an unfamiliar color on the ground of your campsite picture. I seem to have a vague recollection of something like that from a long, long time ago. What is that called again? Wait, I know - it's GREEN. How odd and novel!

Thanks for the report.

Yes after reading about the weather you guys are having up north, how can I complain? I feel its my duty to get out and enjoy it. Love your reports BTW.

We'll be fishing Big Paint and Little Paint this weekend (26-28). Without a map at hand, where is Gunder, so we can check out the gunderburger.
mcsweem 04/22/2013 04:57PM
nothing beats a gunderburger, it's been a while since I've had one.
