I'm planning on making a folding buck saw. I'm thinking of making something like this.

http://paulkirtley.co.uk/2011/how-to-make-folding-bucksaw/

My question is, since I know several of you have made a saw similar or maybe use one, what type of blade should I look for.

I'd like to be able to buy something in town so that I don't have to order it, but if you guys have a suggestion of something I can get on amazon or something that would be fine too.

Edit: Sorry I can't get the link to actually link.

I made 4 of these and if you are planning to use that type of saw then I highly recommend using a Sven Saw Replacement blade The hardware store blades are crap.

PK, do you have plans you could share for the bucksaws you made. I just picked up some hard maple that would probably work really well.

Sorry, no plans but I'd be happy to share info on measurements and angles. I didn't have any maple and would have preferred it but the ash seems to hold up. Let me know.

I like your saws design better with the solid rod at the top for putting tension on the blade than the wind up type. Any measurements, angles, which steps in which order would be appreciated. Pics are great too if you have any. You could E mail me or post them here. I was at the hardwood lumber shop picking up some ash and they had the hard maple in a short stock rack. They sell it at a slight discount and I couldn't resist going through the pile. Thanks for the reply.
