In August we're going to be spending a few nights in the b-dub in and out of East Bearskin and then a few nights in Lutsen before heading home. All I'm really aware of is Voyageur in Grand Marais. Are there any other breweries that we need to make sure we visit?

Here's a map you may find helpful. Zoom in tight to isolate the overlapping pins.

Voyageur is pretty good, especially their porters and stouts. Get the fish and cheese board. On your way up and down 61, Bent Paddle, Fitger's, and Castle Danger are especially good, although Fitger's is really the only one with substantial food offerings. Sláinte!

The other big one is Castle Danger but thats down in Two Harbors. Voyagers is probably your best bet up in that neck of the woods and then leave time on the drive home or drive up to check out Castle Danger and maybe Bent Paddle in Duluth.

I agree with the others.
I really like Castle Danger (my favorite) and think Voyageur is good. I think that Castle Danger is worth the stop on the way up, down, or both;). Great beer and a nice view of the harbor.

My wife and I had a little get away to Duluth this past weekend and hit 3 of the brew pubs in town. We stopped at Bent Paddle before going to the hotel and it was my favorite of the 3 that we went to in Duluth. It was a Saturday afternoon so it was packed with a long line and nowhere to sit but their beer is good. Sunday we ate at Canal Park Brewing. We've been there a few times and I personally don't think it's worth the stop just for their beer. That being said I really like their Northcoaster Burger (fried egg and quacamole) even though it's a spendy burger. On Monday we stopped at Blacklist which is a newer one. I enjoyed their beer and on a Monday afternoon it was very quiet in there.
