I am probably not calling it by its correct name, but is there a map of Quetico Lake showing the bottom depths, ridges, and drop offs? Thanks.

I started looking around on some bathography internet sites and I didnt come up with anything for Quetico. I will keep looking. It would be nice to have contour lines for the Q.

positive this is the place i bought my maps, granted that was back in 2010, but i spent quite a bit of time talking to the owner (at that time) of Walt's Dry Goods. just amazed at all the stuff in that store!

Mocha,

I just sent an email to Walts Dry Goods to see if they have any depth and contour maps of Quetico lakes. Hope they do as it would certainly help to locate fish.

cross your fingers and your toes!!! let us all know what you find out. if that's not the place then i'm stumped.

Mocha,

Randy @ Walt's Dry Goods Atikokan, Ontario returned my email and said the following:

"Sorry the short answer is "No". We have about 20 lake contour maps ...none in the Park. Considering there are about 20,000 lakes within 50 miles of here, it is bad. Then again, that is a lot of lakes and it would take some work to even do some. The government has a few depth maps for their own research but this info is not available to for the public. I hate to be the bearer of bad news.

Thanks for your query."

So bummer. I sure was hoping some depth contour maps were available for the Q.

I have seen Research by some of the Canadian Fisheries biologist who also worked in the park and not many complete maps were done. You may find depths of lake and maybe fish species in some places and that may be it.

You know if they were available I would look at them. But it is kind of nice they are not. It adds a little more touch to the unknown and to the camping-canoe-fishing adventure. A little more touch of the wilderness and a little less of the human touch. A little more to explore the unknown.

Thank you MP! I realize it doesn't show depths but the high resolution satellite imagery is very useful to scout lakes for high probability fishing spots.
