Wondering if anyone has had any success bobber fishing in the Q given the bait ban, and if so what bait you used. I know there are artificial leeches and minnows, but not sure if they need to be trolled. Not essential but I like throwing a bobber out from camp.

Also if anyone has any tips on the Sunday/Agnes/Louisa area I would be very appreciative. Planning to go in early May if the weather cooperates. Will be targeting lakers, northerns and smallies in that order. Thanks in advance.

I have caught fish at times using a slip bobber rig with a artificial leech, or a 3" twister tail . The wind has to be just right for any success at all . I haven't caught many fish this way, but I sometimes like to throw a line out when I'm sitting around camp.

I like to use a small ice fishing jig or light weight ice fishing flutter spoon and then a gulp leech. It has to be windy though as the bobber bobbing in the waves provides enough action, but the wind makes it tough to cast out. I have had mixed results.

I have had limited success with a wacky rigged worm under a float and a tinsel jig also.

I have caught fish on the fake leeches and tube baits under a slip bobber. But like others have mentioned, there needs to be some wind to put a chop on the lake. Or you need to move the bobber yourself with slow reeling or jiggling the line.

Thanks for the info guys. I will probably try some power leeches and grubs if there's a decent chop, otherwise forget it. Hoping to spend a good amount of time trolling and/or drifting anyways.

The third Sat. in May this year is the 20th for Walleye.

As others have mentioned, I've used fake leeches with minor success. Like others, I've only had that success in decent wind. I still bring a small pack with every trip, along with a bobber and small jig, simply because they don't take up much space, and it's nice to watch a bobber bob out on the lake while doing other things in camp.

"Slimer" leeches have great action for artificial. Pretty flimsy.
