Well, the first of 4 is complete. The most difficult challenge was finding a place to hang the hammock set-up in the house. Made of Sil-nylon, it covers over the hammock, underquilt, top quilt and seperate bug net. Mostly, like making a long tapered Bishop's Bag.

Nice! It's like snake skin's for the whole set up instead of just the hammock? That'd make take down and set up way quicker than it already is.

Yup - it can cover everything. Hammock, underquilt, top quilt, and mosquito net.

The "Lazy Slug" comes in two pieces - one from each end and weighs only about 2.8 ounces. My family likes them for base camping to keep their set-up covered, clean and dry if a shower comes up when they are out hiking or fishing. The "travel kids" like the fast set-up and take down. They coil it in a larger compression sack and get it packed down pretty small.

I am also in the process of making "snake skins" and "bishop bags" for tarps.

I like the concept, and your completed product looks nice. How did you determine the size of the tube? Is there a reference plan for the "slug"?

As for the dimensions - length is easy - measure the hammock and add a few inches (5" per side) to allow for the bulk. Circumference - I put everything together that the Slug would have to cover, measured around it all, added a couple of inches for the bulk, air vs. squish factor and guessed. My Slugs will cover the hammock, a bulky under quilt, inner quilt, and separate mosquito net.

I did document my pattern - I wrote it all down when I made it - my memory gets bad when I make alterations mid project. So, now I have a book where I note all the info since I have to make 4-5 of them. I have it down to a pretty quick system. About 2 hours for the complete set from cut out to hang. It is really a long shaped bishop bag/double end stuff sack. Now that I have the measurements - it goes pretty fast.

That is so cool! I love the idea of easy set up and keeping things clean while out and about.

Ok, consider your order placed.
