Heard the song of a white throat sparrow this morning. Here in NW Indiana they just pass by on their way north but usually stick around for a few weeks to tease me with their song.
"In wilderness is the salvation of mankind." Thoreau.
Started writing down when I see birds for the first time n Spring at our feeder a couple of years ago. White Throated Sparrows arrived April 19 this year and April 17 last year. They do seem to stay for awhile, their numbers grow for a few days, then decline and they are gone north to the Boreal forest. Saw 10 on the ground below the feeder today, all scampering around looking for fallen seed. Nice!
