Leaving in 2 weeks with 2 groups of scouts. Any chance of a burn ban?

I would imagine there is always a chance, but it should lessen as the foliage starts to dramatically green up soon. No ban currently like last year around this time.

Last year sucked. There was a burn ban and it rained the whole time we were on the trip and had no idea that it was lifted 2 days into our trip. Didn't see anyone else having fires during the whole trip. I hope there isn't a burn ban this year. Been on like 5 or 6 trips during a ban, not enjoyable in the evening. Being wet and cold the whole time is not much fun either.

You must have been in the same time we were. At the end of our trip we did build a couple small fires for photo ops and put them right back out. My son and I agree no fire in the evening really takes something away from the whole camping experience especially since my son is a born fire builder from BSA days I never mess with the fire he always has it roaring.

Yep me too. Our scouts would be bummed if they couldn't have a camp fire.

Twice in my 25 trips there was a burn ban, and it was the right thing to do, although I also like to chat through the evening with feet up near the fire. Both times, a very polite phone call notified me in advance to have a camp stove and enough fuel for the trip, and both times (which were both at PP) they had me bring the stove and the fuel for inspection, to be sure enough fuel was along. I have seen fire burned areas, and I know it is natural with lightning, but I also portaged through deep ash at Canyon Falls in the 90's, and I do not want to contribute to something like that. That was probably a natural fire, but burned a huge area of the Falls Chain.

Did the park do anything to the person who started the Jesse lake fire last year?

As of Wednesday last week it was moderately dry in Quetico, but this next week they should be getting about or up to 2 inches of rain.
